Get ready for an exciting adventure as St. Augustine, a non-profit, senior living facility gears up for our annual Happy Campers Trip August 12th to 16th! Yes, you heard it right – camping (in cabins!)
Picture this – nursing home and assisted living residents swapping their rooms for cabins, fishing in the stocked pond, swimming, and even interacting with horses. The joy on their faces as they roast marshmallows around a campfire is priceless.
Approximately 20-25 residents will enjoy a week of outdoor bliss, while others will partake in our Day Camp activities each day. This incredible event gives our residents, some of whom have been with us for over a decade, a chance to escape the routine of the facility and enjoy their day however they choose.
This unique experience costs us over $18,000, but we do not burden our residents or families with any fees.
Why do we do it? Because it’s the right thing to do as part of our mission to promote quality of life. We take pride in being the sole long-term care facility in the State offering such a unique opportunity.
The support of volunteers allows residents to do what they want, when they want by helping them do the things they aren’t able to do on their own. Spending your time to listen and share, helps them feel valued. Monetary and in-kind donations of meals, paper products, snacks, etc. are also vital in making this heartwarming experience possible.
Join us in creating unforgettable memories and spreading joy this summer!
