What Does Love Look Like? It Has The Hands To Help Others. – St. Augustine of Hippo
Volunteers are an integral part of the staff of St. Augustine Health Ministries. Whether transporting someone to daily Mass, sitting with a hospice patient at Holy Family, or assisting with an activity at the assisted living facility, these small acts of kindness enhance the lives of those we serve.
Volunteers are family members and friends, students and professionals, retirees and young adults. They are people who donate their time, skills and talents to support our programs and services. They provide an extra pair of hands wherever help is needed and they make a difference in the communities we serve. Volunteers complement the efforts of our staff in assuring that the special needs of each person are met in a way that is personal to that individual.
Volunteers have the opportunity to match their skills and interests with meaningful assignments either in our nursing home, assisted living facility or hospice. Below are just a few examples of areas where volunteers can make a difference.

We welcome businesses, parishes and any organized groups who are interested in volunteering on a one-time or recurring basis.Volunteer groups of any size can be accommodated and service opportunities range from resident engagement to behind-the-scenes projects.
We have numerous opportunities for sorority, fraternity and volunteer clubs who enjoy engaging with seniors. So many of our residents have outlived their families or they simply live too far away to frequently visit. They are still very social and have led very interesting lives. The opportunity to become an extended family of a resident is a win/win. In fact, volunteers tout that they get back more than they feel they give. For volunteers 16-18 years old, please contact the Volunteer Manager to create a meaningful inter-generational opportunity.
