Happy Campers Week 2024
St. Augustine Health Campus Hosts Another Successful Happy Campers Week at Camp Cheerful
CLEVELAND, OH – St. Augustine Health Campus marked a special milestone with the 21st annual Happy Campers Week at Camp Cheerful this past week. As the only nursing facility in Ohio to offer this exclusive week-long getaway, we provided our residents with an opportunity for fun and relaxation. This cherished tradition is eagerly anticipated every year, and this year’s event was no exception.
Throughout the week, residents participated in a variety of activities tailored to suit everyone’s interests. From peaceful fishing by the lake and visiting the horse barn to a vintage car show and refreshing swims in the pool, there was truly something for everyone. The week was filled with lively energy, a sense of togetherness, and the joy of spending time in the great outdoors.
Tim, Director of Life Enrichment at St. Augustine Health Campus, captured the spirit of the event perfectly: “Watching the residents head to camp is like seeing kids at the start of summer break- full of anticipation and excitement for the day’s possibilities. After a long day of sunshine, fresh air, and fun, they come back with a peaceful satisfaction, tired but happy. They often mention how much they enjoyed fishing, swimming, or just being outdoors, appreciating the chance to escape their usual routines. One camper told me her favorite part of camp was simply ‘everything.’”
This week would not have been possible without all of the generous donors who give throughout the year to the St. Augustine Health Campus Castele Fund for Resident Outings and to our dedicated staff and over 50 volunteers who generously gave their time to make the event a success. Their hard work behind the scenes made every moment count- from assisting residents around the campgrounds and ensuring they had a relaxing dip in the pool to engaging them in a spirited game of Uno.
Happy Campers Week has become a cherished tradition for both residents and staff. The shared experiences create memories that will last a lifetime for everyone involved. St. Augustine Health Ministries is excited to continue this beloved event for many years to come.
