What Love Looks Like Featured Fund: Home Delivered Meals

Help St. Augustine raise $8,000 for the Home Delivered Meals Program to provide self stable meals for seniors.
“Ohio is among the ten worst states in the nation for food insecurity, with over 457,000 Ohioans over age 60 at risk for hunger, and senior visits to Ohio food pantries up 20 percent in just the past four years.”
Last year more than 49,000 meals were provided for older adults through our congregate and home delivered meals programs in the Detroit-Shoreway and Broadway/Slavic Village neighborhoods.
Daily home-delivered lunches are provided for two primary areas, Slavic Village and the Detroit Shoreway neighborhoods. The meals are prepared with the dietary needs of seniors in mind. All meals are certified by a registered dietitian to meet one-third of the RDA.
It is important for seniors to receive the proper nutrition in order to remain healthy and live independently in their homes as long as they wish. Meals are delivered to their door, Monday – Friday. There is no charge, however we gladly accept donations. The recommended donation is $.75 per meal.

Peggy
“This program started in 1992 and there used to be lots of people here. Father Marino Frascati would come visit every day and built this program for the members of the parish. Now, instead of a community from the church, it’s about strangers coming together”.
