St. Augustine Child Enrichment Center and PRE4CLE are Building a Foundation for Success
The St. Augustine Child Enrichment Center was chosen by PRE4CLE for being one of the first 90 providers in Cleveland to be part of the effort to provide high-quality preschool to all of Cleveland’s three and four-year-old children – an early adopter!
The ceremony at the Cleveland Botanical Garden was hosted by Katie Kelly, PRE4CLE’s Director; Eric Gordon, CEO of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District; Billie Osborne-Fears, Starting Point Executive Director; and Marcia Egbert, Senior Program Officer for The George Gund Foundation.
PRE4CLE is a plan to ensure all of Cleveland’s children can enroll in a high-quality preschool program that helps build the academic and social skills necessary to be successful in kindergarten, school, and life. PRE4CLE helps connect families to high-quality preschool programs, and it helps providers like us improve our quality.
We signed on to be part of PRE4CLE in the first year because we want to provide our families with the highest quality preschool possible. By being part of PRE4CLE, we will receive professional development to help more of our teachers receive their certifications, assistance increasing our ratings through Ohio’s Step Up to Quality star rating system, financial help to expand our programs, and support to help get the word out in the community about our program. We will also help PRE4CLE by sharing our expertise in how to attract families to high-quality programs and work with them to ensure children get the most from their preschool experience.
Marcia Egbert thanked us for our work. “The Gund Foundation couldn’t be more honored to support the work of PRE4CLE. It is lovely to congratulate you as the first class and that also means you will bring your first class programs to our children,” she said. “We look forward to supporting you in every, and any, way possible.”
Katie Kelly talked about how important high-quality preschool is for our children. “We want to acknowledge the commitment that the St. Augustine Child Enrichment Center has made to provide high-quality preschool to Cleveland’s children,” she said. “Through your participation in PRE4CLE, St. Augustine’s Child Enrichment Center plays an important role in preparing Cleveland’s children for academic success. The preschool years are a crucial window of time to show children how to be successful students and inspire their love of learning.”
