St. Augustine Board Inducts Honorary Life Trustees

Tom and Margaret Lynch, Honorary Life Trustees

Two long-time members of the St. Augustine Health Ministries Board of Directors, Thomas and Margaret Lynch, were granted lifetime membership via a recommendation from the board. The nomination came in appreciation of their 45 years of outstanding leadership service toward the Mission of St. Augustine.

“The long-term dedication to St. Augustine Health Ministries by Tom and Margaret Lynch should serve as a reminder to all of us the true meaning of sharing time, talent and treasure,” Robert Pumphrey, Chair of the Board of Directors, said in a resolution naming them Honorary Trustees. “Through their continued commitment and hard work they have provided comfort and compassion to those most vulnerable among us. Their wise counsel, generosity of spirit and leadership on the Board of Directors have been crucial in our growth through the years, helping us continue in our mission to provide a caring environment for those in need.”

Tom began his service on the Board in 1970. He has served various terms throughout the years and held the positions of vice president and treasurer. He has also helped with fundraising and special projects. Tom has provided our Ministry with a great deal of advice, counsel and direction in all fiscal areas.

At the request of Bishop Clarence G. Issenmann in 1971, Margaret helped form the Coterie of St. Augustine, a women’s auxiliary. Margaret was an active member of the Coterie, working in the gift shop, writing newsletters, and holding the position of president for over 15 years. She also served as an ex-officio member of the board of directors until the Coterie disbanded in 2011. As president of the Coterie, Margaret encouraged members to establish a named endowed fund, The Coterie Resident Enrichment Fund, which provides support of special resident programs in perpetuity.

Tom and Margaret’s commitment to the Mission and Ministry are evidenced by their continued participation at St. Augustine activities, lectures, Masses, on the Fund Development Committee and Top O’ the Towers Committee. They have provided generous on-going financial support and have used their time and talents over the years as advocates for the Mission, bringing new volunteers and donors to the organization.

St. Augustine Health Ministries is a mission-driven, faith-based, not-for-profit organization founded by Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland, dedicated to providing a continuum of health care and social services within our community, primarily to the chronically ill and aging.
