Exemplifying Great Love - St. Augustine Health Ministries

Six of the twenty-four employees honored at the 13th Annual Catholic Charities Health & Human Services St. Elizabeth of Hungary award celebration are from St. Augustine Health Campus. Julie Adams, Nursing; Margaret Davies, Assisted Living; Haifa Issa, Nursing; Pat Paulozzi, Human Resources; Theresa Polefko, Occupation Therapy;and Sr. Cecilia Sambor, Pastoral Care, were among those recognized at the November 16th, Mass & Celebration led by the Most Reverend Richard Lennon .

Employees were nominated by clients and their peers from throughout the Catholic Charities System for their dedication and contribution to Catholic Charities and the persons we serve. St. Elizabeth of Hungary, the patroness of Catholic Charities, manifested such great love for the poor and suffering in her short life. Elizabeth understood well the lesson Jesus taught when he washed his disciples’ feet at the Last Supper: The Christian must be one who serves the humblest needs of others, even if one serves from an exalted position. Of royal blood, Elizabeth could have lorded it over her subjects. Yet she served them with such a loving heart that her brief life won for her a special place in the hearts of many. Each of those recognized also exemplify this great love.

It is an honor and a blessing to have each of the very special employees as members of the St. Augustine Health Ministries Team.
