The St. Augustine Child Enrichment Center welcomed over 50 current and former students and their families to a reunion cookout in celebration of their 20th anniversary on Wednesday, July 18. Students reminisced over burgers and hot dogs and friendly games of cornhole and basketball.
This first reunion was a great success as students and families came from as far away as Akron to join in the festivities under the warm, summer sun. Many of the older graduates have remained friends throughout the years and have continued schooling together, but the reunion was a chance for everyone to revisit their preschool classrooms and catch up on their lives and future plans. While visiting a classroom and sitting at one of the desks that they have since outgrown, students began pointing out all of the updates that had taken place since their days at the Child Enrichment Center and how they remembered the classrooms looking.
Students and family members were asked to write down memories or words of gratitude. Memories of trick or treating through the halls of St. Augustine, class birthdays and of course, nap time, were jotted down by students while families wrote of the positive influences the teachers were in their child(ren)’s lives and their appreciation for the CEC family.
The cookout fell in line with the meaning of festival week, which is to celebrate faith, family and community. Thank you to all who came out and for the teachers in the Child Enrichment Center for planning this wonderful reunion!
