Bishop Nelson Perez, Catholic Diocese of Cleveland, visited Holy Family Hospice on Tuesday, July 16th. Director, Kristin Graham and Director of Nursing, Joe stupecki led him on a tour and shared the rich history of Holy Family, one that dates back to 1956. Founded by the Dominican Sisters of Hawthorne, Holy Family was the first to provide care for the dying in the greater Cleveland area.
Joe, a nurse with Holy Family for 32 years and a number of other current staff members worked for the Dominic Sisters and shared the importance and honor of continuing their ministry.
Holy Family Hospice became part of the St. Augustine family in 2005 after the Dominican Sisters of Hawthorne retired.
During the tour, the Bishop stopped in patient rooms to visit and offer a blessing. The Bishop’s blessing was especially meaningful for a family who’s loved one volunteered at St. Augustine Health Campus for over 22 year, and was called home later that evening.
